This project is something special for us, as it was our first own project which included the planning and implementing of a load-bearing rammed earth wall. The artist, Luis Casanova Sorolla, designs and plans an experimental space for artists in Bahia, Brazil with the focus on using natural building materials. Inspired by the surrounding areas and the beach cliffs, we based the design and color concept of the wall on the origin of the local materials and tried to mimic the color sedimentation of the cliffs. Together with the local craftsmen, we planned and built the formwork for the 50 cm thick wall. It was especially nice to arouse the spirit of the local workers for this construction technique and foster the exchange of knowledge.
